Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Simon Cowell's recovery is taking "longer than hoped," a friend has said 10 weeks after his electric bike accident.The 61 year old fell off his new bike in August, breaking his back in three different places and leaving him "millimetres away" from paralysis.

Britain's Got Talent judge Simon was left forced to pull out of the recent series' live shows, being replaced by Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo.

Pals of the star have now spoken out on his injury, revealing that whilst he is building up his strength, full recovery is still a long way off.
