Simon Phillip Cowell (born 7 October 1959) is an English television personality, businessman and record executive. He has judged on the British television talent competition series Pop Idol (2001–2003), The X Factor (2004–2010, 2014–present) and Britain's Got Talent (2007–present), and the American television talent competition series American Idol (2002–2010), The X Factor (2011–2013), and America's Got Talent (2016–present). Cowell is the principal, founder and chief executive of the British entertainment company Syco.

Simon Cowell made his TV debut on a game show in 1989 and even won the first round. Who knew the American Idol judge was a quiz master before he became a music mogul?

The TV show was called Sale of the Century and Simon appeared in two episodes after winning the first round. However, he only won £20 worth of cooking utensils in the end, but at least he got something.

We can’t get over young Simon. Simon, 60, previously admitted he only appeared on the game show as a favour to his friend. Appearing on Jay Leno in 2011, the X Factor judge said: ‘It was an accident, I didn’t audition. ‘My sister-in-law, ex-sister-in-law, I might add, after this – was like a host or something on this particular show and then one day a contestant didn’t show
