Silent Hill 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have claimed recent PS5 Pro enhanced updates have made the games worse. The PlayStation 5 Pro launched earlier this month with a number of technical upgrades to improve graphics and handling.

It was described as the “most advanced and innovative console hardware to date,” and Sony confirmed a number of existing titles would get special PS5 Pro Enhanced updates to make use of the console’s increased power.

They also promised the console would be “the most visually impressive way to play games on PlayStation”.However, fans of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have been experiencing a number of problems with the updated version of the game.“We’ve got issues with this one,” say Digital Foundry in their review of the game. “While Star Wars Jedi: Survivor serves up some upgrades over the standard PS5, there are severe image quality concerns when elements like foliage interact with ray tracing.

The end result is a strobing image quality downgrade that makes this Pro patch difficult to recommend.”Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PS5 Pro has problematic image quality issues, even though the return of RT in performance mode is welcome. @oliemack and @Dachsjaeger discuss this one, and we'll be tackling similar problems in Silent Hill 2 and others soon: https://t.co/4OjBayoOei pic.twitter.com/RhyMDXSuVV— Digital Foundry (@digitalfoundry) November 17, 2024“It boggles my mind that an issue I saw immediately, this sort of fizzing, flickering noise around foliage was either missed by the devs, or they chose to willingly ignore it.
