'Significant strengths' found at Ayrshire support service for disabled people

Health chiefs in South Ayrshire have hailed a positive review into a key aspect of one of their many services.The local authority’s South Ayrshire Integrated Reablement Service Support Service was placed under the microscope during a spot check by the Care Inspectorate.And the service, based in Wellington Square, Ayr, was graded as ‘very good’ across four quality indicators, the second highest grading possible.A spokesperson for the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership said: “The South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) are delighted with the findings of the recent Care Inspectorate inspection of our Reablement service and subsequent report.“The Reablement service have continued to work diligently throughout a very challenging period with increasing pressure to support people to remain in their own homes following injury or illness.“This report highlights the ethos and work ethic of the service and recognises that HSCP staff continue to go above and beyond to support the people of South Ayrshire.”South Ayrshire Integrated Reablement Service, (SAIRS), provides holistic assessment, goal setting and therapeutic intervention to adults over the age of 18 who have a care or support need.

Referrals are received from service users, their families or informal carers, other professionals, and hospitals to support safe discharge to the community.They support adults with physical disabilities and older people in their home and in the community.Among the key messages there was “very good management and quality assurance systems in place.”In addition, the service was delivered by team of staff that were “dedicated, caring and compassionate” about the job they do.And there was “very good communication”
