As we get set to enter into another heatwave, teachers' leaders are urging schools to consider cancelling sports days in order to protect student and staff health in the heat.

Temperatures are set to soar above 30C on Monday and Tuesday this week, with the Met Office issuing its first ever red warning for 'extreme heat' in the UK.

Last week, Policy director for school leaders’ union NAHT James Bowen advised: "Whilst there is no legal ‘upper limit’ for temperature in schools, they will certainly be doing all they can to mitigate the effects of such high temperatures.” Bowen also spoke about sports days, saying: "Sadly, in a small number of cases, schools may have no choice but to postpone." A number of schools across Greater Manchester have already relaxed uniform rules in a bid to help students cope with the heat.

With the Met Office warning of "exceptional, perhaps record-breaking temperatures" this week, we want to know if you agree with plans for schools to potentially cancel sports days.
