'Shogun' Season 2 Update: Actor Hiroyuki Sanada Provides Timeline for Return to Filming

Based on James Clavell‘s novel, the series is set in Japan in the year 1600 at the dawn of a century-defining civil war.
Its first season premiered to critical acclaim in early 2024, and it has made history amid the current awards season. The show was such a hit that it was announced that a second and third season were in the works in May 2024.
However, updates beyond that have been scarce. While attending AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards, Hiroyuki offered a bit of a timeline for when the second season would enter production.
