Shocking footage showed chaotic scenes erupting after the Blackpool and Wigan Athletic football game at the DW Stadium on Saturday (March 16).

A huge police presence responded to what has been described as 'disorder' after the match, as supporters of both clubs 'came together' to cause the riot as they left the event.

Greater Manchester Police were criticised by some fans on social media, with one person posting a video claiming officers 'went off on one'.

Footage appeared to show a number of people being pinned to the ground by officers as the rowdy crowds were moved along. READ MORE The much-loved family man who died 'trying to stop his car from being stolen' The footage, posted to X, formerly Twitter, showed a large number of officers responding to the disorder, with multiple police vans parked up outside the entrance.
