“The Wall of Life: Pictures and Stories from this Marvellous Lifetime,” which features a photograph from May 19, 1962 — the night Monroe breathlessly sang “Happy Birthday, Mr.
President” to JFK. MacLaine was present at the event and says she attended an afterparty where she saw President Kennedy leave a bedroom with Monroe inside.
Shockingly, MacLaine asserts that Robert F. Kennedy — who was then serving as US Attorney General — entered the room immediately after, presumably to have sex with the “Some Like It Hot” star straight after his sibling did. “In 1962, at the famous celebration for John F Kennedy’s 45th birthday at Madison Square Garden, Jimmy Durante and I performed for the president and the crowd, but what most people remember is Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday” to him,” MacLaine writes in her book. “Afterward there was a private party at [Democrat finance chairman] Arthur Krim’s home… Jack Kennedy had just walked out of the bedroom behind me, and Bobby [Robert] Kennedy had just walked in.
Marilyn was in the bedroom.”Monroe died just three months later. President Kennedy was assassinated late the following year.
