Strictly Come Dancing star Shirley Ballas, 62, took to Twitter today to hit back at the online criticism over how the public vote affects the overall results. The BBC judge argued for the “integral” role the Great British public plays in deciding who ends up in the dance-off.Yesterday, Shirley shared a “day in the life” style video in view of her 84,600 Twitter followers.

She captioned the clip: “Spend a #Strictly Saturday with me! Lots to do, so much fun. It’s always a busy day. “Are you all excited for tomorrow?

Please please vote, all couples want to get to Blackpool.” (sic)Replying to Shirley and Strictly, one viewer named Julia Stavordale then penned: “Love strictly, I’ve watched it from the start. “However, I am more irritated now because ‘public vote’ has nothing to do with the dancing; it’s their favourite person. “Do away with public vote and let the judges decide instead,” she suggested. (sic)Today, Shirley responded to the fan with her own thoughts on the way the competition is run.“Oh Lord Julia could you imagine,” Shirley wrote. “The audience is an integral part of the show.  “I personally love that the audience has their say.

Everyone loves something or someone on the show. “Makes for great viewing. Enjoy lovely one and please vote @bbcstrictly.” (sic)Meanwhile, another fan Jo King penned: “Good morning Shirley, Just want to say that you are a joy to watch and to listen to. “Even when I don’t agree with your comments (or those of any of the Strictly judges) I still think that you are a completely delightful human being. “Stay true to yourself and stay fabulous x,” Jo added sincerely. (sic)“Thank you for your positive message.
