Her family made arrangements for her to be sent to the James H. Cole Funeral Home. But when staff unzipped the body bag they made a startling discovery.
The woman was in fact alive, more than an hour after being officially declared dead. Funeral home staff said she had opened her eyes just as they attempted to begin their normal medical interventions. “Our staff confirmed she was breathing” and called a Detroit emergency medical crew, the funeral home said.
The families lawyer has since spoken on behalf of the woman's family. “They were about to embalm her, which is most frightening, had she not had her eyes open…The funeral home unzipping the body bag, literally that’s what happened to Timesha, and seeing her alive with her eyes open,” he.
