Sharon Stone reveals that her iconic role in Basic Instinct was no accident but the result of a master plan which involved posing naked for Playboy magazine. The 62-year-old rose to fame in the erotic thriller starring as a novelist who seduces a detective played by Michael Douglas.

It propelled Sharon as a Hollywood sex symbol and it was all part of her ‘strategy’. Speaking to Drew Barrymore on her talk show, Sharon explained: ‘I’m more of a logic person and a strategy person. ‘Even when I wanted Basic Instinct, I decided I was gonna do a Playboy article specifically because I wanted to get this film Basic Instinct.’ She recalled the fame she earned after her performance in the 1992 thriller and added: ‘I didn’t realise what would happen.
