Severe disruption to Lanarkshire rail services after person is struck by train

A person has died after being hit by a train in Lanarkshire this morning.The casualty was pronounced dead at the scene when paramedics arrived to the line in Uddingston.Emergency services raced to the incident at around 11.14am on Thursday, February 16, following reports of the individual on the tracks.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. "The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal."Travellers were later advised of alternative routes while emergency services responded to the incident.ScotRail posted on social media: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Glasgow Central and Bellshill.
