Serena Williams has revealed that Prince Harry helped her with the decision to retire from tennis, after spending an hour speaking about it to the royal.
Earlier this month, the tennis pro announced that she would be retiring to pursue projects outside the world of sport – and it's now been revealed that Prince Harry was part of that decision.
Speaking on Meghan Markle's new podcast Archetypes, the pair say how they had a long chat which helped Serena come to her decision to retire – chatting for almost an hour about it.
Speaking to both Serena and Harry, Meghan explained in the episode: “I think, you know, I think both of us, or the three of us, really know that sometimes the right decision isn’t the easiest decision.” She added: “It takes a lot of courage, I think, too, to stop something in many ways than to keep going sometimes.” Speaking about her decision to quit the sport, Serena recently said she thinks of her retirement as more of an "evolution".
