Section of M74 to close overnight for a fortnight during August to allow essential work to be carried out

Join thousands of others who have signed up for the Daily Record newsletter.A northbound stretch of the M74 in Lanarkshire will be closed overnight for almost two weeks next month for essential maintenance.The complete closure between Junctions 6 and Junction 5 will start from Monday, August 3 until Saturday, August 15.Works will take place between 8pm and 6am each night, with the road will re-opening as normal out with these times.The work will be carried out by Scottish Road Partnership (SRP) on behalf of Transport Scotland and will be delivered by maintenance company Amey.A signed diversion route will be in operation during the hours of closure.Northbound traffic on the M74 will exit at the Junction 6 off slip road to the A72 and proceed.
