Second man appears in court charged with murder over death of Dundee man Steven Hutton

A second man has appeared in court charged with murder after the Easter Sunday death of Steven Hutton in Dundee.Scott Henderson made no plea during the private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday, April 3.The 39-year-old was remanded in custody with the case submitted for further examination by prosecutors.He is expected back in the dock within eight day after being charged in connection with the 43-year-old’s death on Easter Sunday.Mr Hutton was found badly injured at a property on Charleston Road shortly after 11pm on Saturday. He was rushed to Ninewells Hospital for treatment but sadly lost his fight for life the following day.Police Scotland has confirmed they are treating the death as murder following the results of a post mortem.A 43-year-old man has already appeared at the city’s sheriff court charged with murder.

Barry Murray made no plea and was remanded in custody on Tuesday.Police are continuing to appeal for information around the circumstances of the alleged killing.

A statement from the force said: “A second man has been arrested and charged as a murder investigation continues into the death of a man in Dundee.“The 43-year-old-man, who can now be named as Steven Hutton, was found seriously injured within a property on Charleston Road, Dundee, on Saturday, 30 March, 2024.“He was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where he later died on Sunday, 31 March.“Following a post mortem examination, Steven's death is being treated as murder and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
