Sean Wilson has revealed the words of comfort he received from his Coronation Street co-star after an unfounded historical sex claim rocked his career.

The actor, who starred as Martin Platt, was due to return to the series and began filming with ITV in July. His appearance would have been part of Gail Platt's finale in October, when long-term star Helen Worth left the series.

But reports emerged that Sean had 'stepped down' in September, before the actor revealed this weekend how his 'world was blown apart' by an allegation of indecent assault dating back 27 years.

The actor was given no further details about the allegation, made by someone linked to the show, before being told by police there would be no further action on the claim.
