The 45-year-old penned an emotional tribute to the actor, who played loveable hospital lawyer Ted Buckland on the American series, saying he "could have not been a kinder man".
News of his death was confirmed on Friday evening, and came after he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in January last year.
Sharing a snap of Sam on his Instagram page, Zach, who played John "JD" Dorian on the show, wrote: "Rest in peace to one of the funniest actors I’ve ever had the joy of working with. "Sam Lloyd made me crack up and break character every single time we did a scene together.
