A Scottish woman has been arrested in Thailand following an alleged drug-fuelled rampage. The 55-year-old, who was holidaying in the Asian country, caused chaos at a hotel on Jomtien Beach Road in Pattaya.Hotel staff called police over her behaviour and she was subsequently arrested, reports the Daily Star.

Images of the incident show the woman, known only as Tracy, wearing a blue top and a short ponytail, flanked by armed officers in the back of a police pick-up truck.According to local news, Tracy was in a state of 'distress' and was found crying in her hotel room, with a jar of cannabis and drug paraphernalia also discovered.

Upon arrest, she then started to shout and “act uncontrollably,” Thaiger News claims.Local news claims that a 'Danish friend' of the Scot explained how they had been on holiday in the area for two days and purchased cannabis to smoke - however, the drugs allegedly caused Tracy to exhibit unusual behaviour, shut herself off, and show signs of paranoia. The woman was taken by police to a local hospital where it was claimed that pre-existing health conditions, prescription drugs and “excessive” cannabis use combined to cause the near-psychotic episode. It's not yet been confirmed whether the woman has been charged with any crimes and the Foreign Office has been approached for comment.

According to Siam Legal, cannabis is listed as a category five drug in Thailand, the lowest of all categories.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click
