Scots tourists in Germany for Euros 2024 advised to carry ID and resident card

If you are heading to - or are already in - Germany, you may want to keep a form of ID with you at all times.It's not long until kick-off now folks with tens of thousands of Scotland fans descending on Germany as Euro 2024 begins.However according to the Foreign Office, there's a few things you might want to keep in mind so your celebrations go uniterrupted.Under their Safety and security travel advice, they discuss the laws and cultural differences in Germany.

Talking about 'Personal ID' they warn that whilst it's not legally required to carry ID, when asked you'll need to get it with police escorting you. However, if you cannot show ID when asked, police can escort you to get your passport."They will ask for a passport and, if you are a resident, for your residence card as well."When it comes to the Euros 2024 specifically, they say on the dedicated football page: "Beer can be stronger than in the UK, so drink responsibly, know your limits and respect local laws."They add: "You may not be let into the stadium if you drink too much."
