A 17-month old Scots tot is facing agonising wait for a heart transplant after a virus deteriorated into a serious heart condition.
Amelia, from Gorgie in Edinburgh, began suffering from symptoms that resembled a common cold on March 28 2024. Sadly her health deteriorated and she was rushed into the hospital in Glasgow where she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy on March 31, reports Edinburgh Live.Amelia’s mum, Becca, said that her daughter's had heart failure, with the organ functioning at just eight per cent. - “Amelia is the most sassy, funny and bossy little girl I have ever met,” Becca said. “She lights up a room and already has the nurses and doctors wrapped around her little finger. “The first night I took her to hospital I was petrified, she was happy, healthy and full of energy.
A couple of days prior to a high temperature, her breathing went so fast and she was so pale and just not herself at all.“We were told to prepare for the worst and just felt useless.
We were completely heart broken.“She just kept deteriorating over night and by morning her whole body was exhausted, she needed to go on high flow.
