Scots swimmer recalls 'scene from Jaws' after horror speedboat propeller accident

A Scots woman has opened up on a horror speedboat accident which she said was like a 'scene from jaws'. Rachael Hadjitofi was hit by a speedboat in Cyprus in 2017 after a day at the beach turned into a nightmare from hell.The Edinburgh resident was being towed on a float in the sea before a speedboat hit her, causing severe injuries to her body.Rachael was rushed to hospital and endured more than 12 hours of life-saving surgery over two days after she was struck by the engine and propellers.Before the horror unfolded, she had planned to move to Edinburgh from Aberdeen on her return home to the UK, but her life plans were turned 'upside down' following the incident.She was admitted to a hospital in Cyprus for nine weeks before being transferred to the UK, where she remained in hospital for another week.Now, she has been able to close the awful chapter of her life after the driver of the boat was found guilty of reckless driving and causing grievous bodily harm in December.

Speaking to the Daily Record about the incident, Rachael said: "It all happened in split seconds but my legs were hit by the propeller and my back got the brunt force of the engine going into me."I went off the float and when I resurfaced I could see my bikini was hanging off me from the force."It looked like I had been in a shark attack, what I can only describe as being like a scene from Jaws.
