James McAvoy has said he became so addicted to video games that it was affecting his acting career. The actor admitted he was obsessed with gaming and would stay up until the early hours of the morning playing before shooting scenes.
The star, who played the young Charles Xavier in The X-Men, never travelled without his Xbox when he was going on location around the world to make movies.
However, he said the late-night sessions of gaming meant he neglected learning his lines and turned up on set exhausted. The 42-year-old once melted a disc of his favourite game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, on a cooker to force himself to quit playing it.
