Police have described cruel thugs who broke into an 80-year-old man's home after distracting him with a fake emergency as "despicable".
The pensioner was told that a number of his ponies had escaped from the paddock by a man who called at his door in Balfron, a village outside of Stirling, on Wednesday, January 18, around 10.30am.
He then accompanied the 80-year-old man to go and locate the ponies, but it was a heartless distraction and while he was away, his home was broken into.
A number of items were stolen, including a watch, a bronze statue and a set of cutlery. The male suspect who came to the door is described as white, around 5ft.
