A mum has urged parents to look out for a rash and bloodshot eyes as possible Covid-19 symptoms, after her 13-year-old son fell critically ill with the virus.
Lewis Greig, from Torry, Aberdeen, has been on a ventilator at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, after he suddenly became unwell last week with a high temperature.
Mum Karen Simpson, 38, said the family initially thought he had a bug and were assured he did not have coronavirus as he did not have a dry cough.
But Lewis’s condition became gradually worse, and he began to show other symptoms, including a rash, red swollen eyes and vomiting.
