Scots Mamma Mia star Myra McFadyen dies aged 68 as tributes pour in

Tributes have flooded in for a Scots-born Mamma Mia! star who has died at the age of 68.Myra McFadyen, from Maryhill in Glasgow, who starred as Elena in the hit film had a celebrated career that spanned a number of decades.She studied at Glasgow's Conservatoire and worked at the National Theatre in London, she also performed as a mime in Paris and appeared in pantomimes and Christmas shows.Following her career, the actress landed herself the role of Elena in the box office hit Mamma Mia!

alongside a star-studded cast, following two years in the West End's production of the ABBA musical. She most recently appeared in the Old Vic's production of A Christmas Carol.

Glasgow's Citizens Theatre led the tributes to the beloved star of stage and screen.In a Twitter post, the theatre wrote: "We are sad to hear of the passing of the brilliantly talented Myra McFadyen.
