Scots grandad who sunbathed in cooking oil left with gaping hole in nose from skin cancer

A former Scots Royal Marine who used to sunbathe with cooking oil has issued a warning about skin cancer after he was left a huge hole in his nose.Les Chadderton used to sunbathe on helipads slathered in cooking oil and had no concerns over harmful UV rays.

The grandad-of-six from Aberdeen allowed himself ‘to fry’ on his downtime in places like Singapore when he joined the military as a young man.

After leaving the armed forces, Les continued to mix low factor lotion with baby oil to make sure it lasted throughout his holidays to Tenerife.It wasn’t until the now 67-year-old noticed a spot on his nose which wouldn’t stop bleeding whenever he towel dried, that he realised something was wrong.
