Scots evacuated after bomb squad call-out for 'suspect item' allowed back home

Residents at a block of high-rise flats in Clydebank have been allowed to return home after a 'suspect item' sparked a bomb squad evacuation.The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) was scrambled to Overtoun Court on Monday afternoon.

Crews raced to the scene after cops discovered an item during a search at a property as part of an ongoing investigation.Officers went on to evacuate several homes in the surrounding area before a controlled explosion took place.

Nearby train services were also called off as a result of the incident but were reinstated on Tuesday morning.Images from the scene show a specialist bomb disposal officer standing at a doorway fully dressed in protective gear.

The officer was spotted at a red door and was wearing a black helmet and solid black armour.It is understood the entrance to the block is now open, with some residents already returning home.
