Scots drug boss linked to construction of new multi-million luxury housing development

Peter McLaren, 55, was jailed for six years in November 2016 after being caught in a police surveillance operation codenamed Operation Numerical targeting organised crime.He admitted charges of supplying cocaine and cannabis with a street value of £250,000 and a proceeds of crime hearing heard he’d made £175,000 from his criminal activities.But since his release from jail, McLaren has become a director and shareholder in a company called Portkil Seaview Estates, which is building posh homes in the villages of Rosneath and Kilcreggan in Argyll and Bute, overlooking Gare Loch.A number of houses have already been completed and sold on the two Kilcreggan complexes.
Meanwhile, groundworks are under way on Portkil’s Kings Marina site in neighbouring Rosneath. It is described on its company website as a “multi-million pound flagship development comprising over 100 luxury apartments and housed in a marina complex with restaurant, bar and retail facilities.”At the High Court in Edinburgh, then-kitchen fitter McLaren admitted charges of supplying cocaine in Glasgow and cannabis in Ullapool in the Highlands.
McLaren and his home in Springburn Glasgow, was put under police surveillance between March and August 2014 as part of Operation Numerical.During their investigation detectives found a half kilo of high purity cocaine in a car in Shandwick shopping centre in the city’s Easterhouse.
