A Doctor Who superfan has found a new home for his Dalek - after more than 500 people called at his home to take pictures with it.

Davie Kirkwood, 60, purchased the replica Dalek 27 years ago - and it has sat in his front window ever since. The 5ft 7in cyborg has become an icon in his hometown of Dumfries in Scotland - with multiple people per day stopping to take a look or snap a picture.

He says he has welcomed between 400 and 500 people into his house to take photos with it. But after retiring and downsizing his sci-fi memorabilia collection, he decided it was time for someone else to get enjoyment from the Dalek.

Davie, who has been a Doctor Who fan for over 40 years now, received 35 offers to purchase the Dalek. But he chose to sell it for £1,250 to Nick Lindsay, chairman of the Clyne Heritage Society.
