A Scots holiday-maker said he is "lucky to be alive" after being shot twice while on holiday to New York. Cameron Robertson, 41, survived after being hit by two 'dum dum', or hollow point bullets which were fired by a masked gunman on a Brooklyn street. The dad of two, who now lives in York after growing up in Aberdeen, believes he may have been caught up in an attempted hit on local police officers while returning from a rock concert with wife Jill Robertson, 42.

The pair had travelled to the US city for a four day trip to see bands Nothing But Thieves and Kid Kapichi which were playing at the Brooklyn Steel venue.Tragedy struck the family as they were walking back to their hotel from the gig when Cameron was struck by two 9mm rounds during a hail of gunfire on September 17.

According to Aberdeen Live, he and Jill died for cover before realising he had been hit after feeling a "sharp, hot needle" sensation in his arm soon after.Cameron, who is a financial advisor, initially received treatment from police before being rushed to hospital where doctors found another bullet lodged in his thigh.

Thankfully, the ammunition didn't hit any bones or arteries, and he was able to fly back to Britain the next day where surgeons removed the bullet from his leg.Cameron said: "We heard a pop, my wife heard screams and we jumped into a deli just next to us.
