A Scots costume designer who followed his dream to Hollywood has scooped an Emmy.Robin Soutar, who is originally from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, picked up the prestigious gong at a glitzy ceremony in Los Angeles at the weekend for his work on the set of multi- award-winning Netflix TV series Wednesday.The former Duncanrigg High School pupil won the prize for Outsanding Contemporary Costumes for a Series alongside colleagues who include a four-time Oscar-winning designer.Dad Robert told the Record he was a “very proud father” and said the award was “probably East Kilbride’s only Emmy”.Sharing images of his big moment on social media, Robin said he was “absolutely buzzing” to be amongst Hollywood royalty.

He wrote on Instagram: “So very proud to be in such prolific company. Congratulations to the whole team who worked so hard on the costumes. “Go Team Wednesday Costume!”Robin was a former member of the East Kilbride Youth Theatre before working on some major film and TV projects in London and overseas.Wednesday, which is directed by Tim Burton and stars actress Jenna Ortega in the role of Wednesday Addams, picked up a string of gongs at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards - which honours artistic and technical talent for the television industry in the US and internationally in a pre ceremony to the primetime awards later this month.
