Two Scots brothers, who were the first siblings in the UK to donate their organs to complete strangers, are preparing for a new charity challenge next year.
Aberdeen businessman Kenny Dooley, who runs the city's OGV Taproom and other ventures, and brother Paul both donated kidneys in the last 11 years.
Kenny first donated his kidney in 2012 after finding out about altruistic organ donation when he studied biochemistry at Robert Gordon University, and Paul followed on in 2015, reports Aberdeen Live.Research shows that people with one kidney are at no greater risk of health problems than those with two.
The brothers were ideal donor candidates as they are both healthy and have no family history of renal failure. Kenny's operation went smoothly, as the Daily Record previously reported, but unfortunately for Paul, 39, after his surgery he was left with a huge hernia the size of a football.
