The Met Office have issued a yellow rain warning in south-east England and Wales this weekend on Friday (September 6) while Scotland is instead forecast for some well-deserved sunshine for once.The Met Office predicts parts of the UK will experience highs of up to 27C on Friday and Saturday, and Glasgow and the West Highlands will see temperatures set to soar to up to the mid twenties.According to Met Office meteorologist Oli Claydon, the mini-heatwave will be caused by a shifting jet stream which will bring high air to the north of Scotland and humid air to accompany it.The weather expert said: "Things will be soggy in the south of the UK for the next few weeks, due to low pressure dominating here. "But Scotland will enjoy comfortable temperatures, similar to what was experienced in September last year."On 7 September 2023, Kinloss in Moray recorded 29.3C (85F) and on September 6 this year, Glasgow could reach 26C (79F)."British homes, typically constructed to conserve heat during the chilly winter months, often transform into stifling hot boxes in the summer, leaving occupants scrambling to cool them down.

Government health warnings highlight that high indoor temperatures can pose serious health risks, including heat stroke, reports the Express.
