Scots actor Brian Cox tells of love for discovering global versions of Forfar bridie

Actor Brian Cox has said he loves discovering other countries versions of the Forfar bridie when he travels around the world.The Scot, who starred as media mogul Logan Roy in hit TV series Succession, also revealed he yearns for the food from his childhood.Since leaving Scotland to live in both London and the US, Cox said native Scottish foods, and celebrations that go with them, have become more important to him.The 77-year-old, who provides the foreword for a new cooking book, Scottish Celebrations, by Scotland’s National Chef Gary Maclean, said: “For more than 60 years now, I’ve travelled the world for films, TV and the theatre and have seen similarities and differences in food around the globe.“Every culture has its Forfar bridie.

In Latin America, it’s empanada; in India, it’s samosa.“Growing up in Dundee as the youngest of five in a less than well-off family, my mother, a spinner, was only able to work intermittently following the death of my father when I was eight.
