Scotland's 'Christmas capital' crowned - and it isn't Edinburgh or Glasgow

It is easy to see why many consider Scotland to be the most Christmassy part of the UK.From snowy Highlands walks to the many markets around the country, those of us who love Christmastime are spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do.

Some areas of Scotland are undoubtedly most festive than others, though.Edinburgh and Glasgow's extravagant Christmas markets, which include everything from stalls to funfair rides, are the most popular destinations for a wintery day out.

However, according to a new study, it is Inverness that has been crowned Scotland's true Christmas capital.As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Inverness topped a list by GO Outdoors of the best winter destinations in the UK.

The Highland city's success can be attributed to its near month-long snowfall (27.09 days) each year, increasing the likelihood of a white Christmas.Inverness also boasts more restaurants per 1,000 people (4.23) than both Glasgow and Edinburgh.
