Scotland flood warning as Met Office extend thunderstorm alert to last 11 hours

weather warning for thunderstorms as the wet spell enters its fourth day.The Met Office alert is in place from midday until 11pm today, with torrential rain, lightning and hail expected to lash down across an 11-hour period.Up to three inches of rain is expected to fall over several hours in some places after a wash-out weekend caused flooding in parts of Scotland.

SEPA have issued flood alerts in 12 places, including the Central Belt, Dundee and Angus, Aberdeenshire, Tayside and Edinburgh.Heavy showers could bring chaos to the roads, with some closures and difficult driving conditions expected.The flooding and lightning strikes could also cause delays and cancellations of trains and buses, while there is a chance of power cuts across.
