Duncan Scott’s schoolboy swim coach welcomed his silver swimming medal yesterday - and said she's sure he's still got a gold in him.
Elaine Johnston coached Duncan for seven years at the Strathallan School in Perthshire and knew immediately that he was destined for the very top.
She was on the edge of her seat as the 24-year-old was pipped by flatmate and rival Tom Dean in the 200m freestyle in Tokyo - the UK’s first gold and silver haul in a swimming event in 113 years.
Duncan just missed out on his bid to become Scotland’s first swimming gold medallist since David Wilkie in 1976. But Elaine is certain there’s more glory to come for our swim sensation.Elaine said: “It was an amazing swim and an amazing race.
