Scot accused of murdering wheelchair bound wife in America faces life in jail
dailyrecord.co.ukThe murder trial of a Scot accused of shooting his wife will go ahead next month, prosecutors in America have confirmed. Wayne Fraser, from Mintlaw in Aberdeenshire, is charged with the first-degree murder of his wheelchair-bound partner.
It’s alleged that the 47-year-old shot and killed Natalie Ryan-Fraser, 55, with a handgun in Cedar Street in the town of Caledonia, Mississippi, in December 2021.The trial is due to begin on May 22 at Lowndes County Court.
Fraser is accused of "feloniously, wilfully and unlawfully with deliberate design to effect the death of Natalie Fraser, a human being, kill Natalie Fraser, without the authority of law and not in necessary self-defence".As previously reported by the Daily Record, Natalie, who was American, had been visiting he husband at his rented flat in Caledonia while he was working away from their home in San Angelo, Texas Around 8am on Thursday, December 30, 2021, Fraser, a foreman with a painting and coating company based in Hamilton in Mississippi, was led away in handcuffs by police.Sheriff’s deputies had been conducting a welfare check at an apartment on Cedar Street when they discovered Natalie’s body and a 9mm firearm.Fraser, a former Mintlaw Academy pupil, has been locked up since, with a bail bond of $500,000 being set by the authorities.
On April 25, 2022 he was charged with first-degree murder. Since his arrest, Fraser, who was 44 at the time of the event, has been held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center in Mississippi.Natalie's devastated brother, Kristopher, previously paid a heartfelt tribute to his late sister.
