The primary school in Bolton where seven-year-old Emily Jones was a pupil is asking for help to build a memorial garden for the little girl who was stabbed to death on Mother's Day.

Emily suffered neck injuries in an horrific random attack by a stranger while visiting Queen's Park in Bolton with her family on March 22nd.

She was taken to hospital but doctors were unable to save her life. A 30-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and is being held in a secure medical facility after being detained under the Mental Health Act.

Teachers and staff at Markland Hill Primary School, where Emily was a pupil, launched a fundraising appeal last Friday to 'create a special memorial to our beautiful Emily'.
