Sarah Silverman Sets Netflix Comedy Special ‘Postmortem,’ About the Death of Her Parents

Ethan Shanfeld Sarah Silverman is returning to Netflix with her second stand-up special for the streamer. Titled “Postmortem,” the comedy hour will see Silverman finding humor in grieving her parents.

It will debut on Netflix on May 20. The logline reads, “Following the recent death of both of her parents, comedian Sarah Silverman finds comedy in the darkest corners of life.

She hilariously navigates the absurdities of death with her signature wit, from unexpectedly finding the ‘deal of a lifetime’ while planning their funerals to cherishing the bittersweet experience of hearing her mother’s last words.” Filmed at the Beacon Theater in New York, “Sarah Silverman: Postmortem” is directed and executive produced by Silverman, with Amy Zvi and John Skidmore (Best Kept Secret Productions) as producers.

Silverman’s last special for Netflix was 2017’s “Speck of Dust.” She has also put out specials with HBO including 2013’s “We Are Miracles” and 2023’s “Someone You Love.” One of the most notable stand-ups of the 21st century, Silverman got her start as a writer and cast member on “Saturday Night Live” in the mid-1990s before she starred in her own show, “The Sarah Silverman Program,” which ran from 2007 to 2010 on Comedy Central.
