Sam Fender shares soothing new ballad ‘Remember My Name’

Sam Fender has shared his latest single ‘Remember My Name’ – listen below and check out the song’s video featuring I, Daniel Blake star Dave Johns.The song is the fourth to be lifted from his forthcoming album ‘People Watching’ which is out next Friday (February 21) via Polydor and is available to pre-order here.

It follows previous singles ‘Arm’s Length’, ‘Wild Long Lie’ and the album’s title track.Fellow Geordie, the I, Daniel Blake star Dave Johns shares the video’s lead role with Philippa Briggs, depicting “the crushing inevitability of love, companionship and of eventual loss”.Fender said: “’Remember My Name’ is a love song dedicated to my late Grandparents – they were always so fiercely proud of our family so I wrote the song in honour of them, from the perspective of my Grandad who was looking after my Grandma when she was suffering from dementia.

The video is a really special one for me, I’d like to thank everyone involved.”Director Hector Dockrill added: “We all knew how important this piece was to Sam, which everyone honoured and approached the subject with care, creating something real and human.
