Safety fears over Renfrewshire roundabout addressed amid plans for active travel route

Plans for a walking and cycling route to link Linwood and Phoenix Retail Park are set to go under the microscope.Renfrewshire Council has landed funding for a feasibility study which will assess the practicality of such a project.The proposals are at an early stage, but the wheels are in motion and initial designs are set to be developed next year.The initiative intends to address the problematic Linclive roundabout, which elected members say presents a “barrier” for pedestrians trying to reach the retail park – home to Asda superstore and Showcase Cinema – without the use of a car.During the summer, Councillor Robert Innes, an SNP representative for Linwood, was successful in passing a motion which requested the local authority consider options for a safe travel route for those walking and wheeling between the locations.
