The latest: Ryan Murphy, 56, has spoken out against Netflix's removal of an LGBTQ tag for his miniseries Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
He was pictured last week in LA 'There was a moment on Netflix where they removed the LGBTQ tag from Dahmer and I didn't like it,' Murphy told the newspaper. 'I asked why they did that and they said because people were upset because it was an upsetting story. 'I was, like, "Well, yeah." But it was a story of a gay man and more importantly, his gay victims.' The Emmy-winning creator of shows such as Glee, Pose and American Horror Story said he doesn't think 'that all gay stories have to be happy stories.'Murphy said that amid complaints about re-traumatizing of the families of the victims - many of whom were Black - he was using the content of the series to illustrate how racism and homophobia allowed Dahmer to continue on his murder spree.
He said, 'It was the biggest thing I've ever seen that really sort of examines how easy it is to get away with things with the white privilege aspects.' Murphy spoke out after Netflix removed an LGBTQ tag for its miniseries Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story amid flak for the classification.
