Rutherglen couple celebrate diamond wedding and devotion to community service

A devoted Rutherglen couple have celebrated two milestones recently.Jim and Pat Bolton, from Burnside, marked 60 years of marriage on June 21 and were visited by South Lanarkshire Provost Margaret Cooper, who added her congratulations to those of the diamond couple's family.The happy couple celebrated their anniversary on Tuesday, June 21.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

This devotion has earned them many community accolades, with Pat also receiving an OBE.All of these accomplishments were achieved while the couple brought up their own family – daughters Fiona and Isla.

They also now have grandchildren, Heather, Fraser, Stuart and Emily and great-grandchildren, Hazel and Ewan.Even though the couple are Rutherglen through and through, 83-year-old Pat still describes her husband, 84, as a "newcomer" as he moved to the Royal Burgh when he was eight.Provost Cooper presented Jim and Pat with flowers, a special bottle of whisky and a certificate on behalf of the council, as well as adding her own personal best wishes.She told Lanarkshire Live: “It was an honour to help this lovely couple commemorate the remarkable achievement that is 60 years of
