Ruth Langsford has tearfully admitted that her son Jack leaving home was "horrendous" and she felt like she'd had part of her heart "ripped out".

The Loose Women host, 63, who shares Jack, 21, with husband Eamonn Holmes, 64, opened up about her only child fleeing the nest in a candid interview on the In A Good Place podcast with Rosie Nixon.

She could be seen becoming tearful as she recalled Jack moving out when he went to study broadcast journalism at Salford University.

Ruth wiped away tears as she told Hello!: "That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out." She continued: "I kept his bedroom door shut.
