UPDATED, 10:30 AM: RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Shangela won a round in court Wednesday as a judge dismissed two of the claims in a man’s lawsuit accusing of the We’re Here co-host of rape in 2020 in Louisiana.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge William Fahey threw out gender violence and civil rights violations claims against Shangela after hearing arguments last week on a motion by Shangela’s attorneys to toss causes of action against their client for those claims along with sexual assault, false imprisonment and negligence.
Shangela’s lawyers had maintained that all five claims are barred by the statute of limitations in both California and in Louisiana.
The plaintiff’s attorneys were ordered to file an amended complaint by November 1. Read details about the suit — which also alleges sexual harassment and failure to prevent sexual harassment — below.
