A new Rugrats movie is coming! Paramount is developing a live-action / CGI hybrid film based on the ’90s animated children’s TV show, via Variety on Wednesday (October 2).
The film will follow Tommy Pickles and his friends Chuckie Finster, Phil and Lil DeVille who will be animated in the movie, which is set in the real world, similar to Sonic the Hedgehog.
Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore is directing the film. Saturday Night Live actor Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidell wrote the script.
Rugrats first premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991 and ran for several seasons, along with spawning films like 1998’s The Rugrats Movie, 2000’s Rugrats in Paris and 2003’s Rugrats Go Wild.
