Royal 'engagement'! Soldier proposes in front of Buckingham Palace before dashing to parade
ok.co.ukA sweet moment unfolded during Trooping the Colour on Saturday, 15 June and it had nothing to do with the Royal Family. Instead, a soldier bravely popped the question to his girlfriend outside Buckingham Palace, before dashing off to join the parade.
The milestone moment for the couple was caught on camera by onlookers who could be heard applauding from the sidelines. In the video obtained by the Mail Online, the soldier was dressed in his military uniform, complete with his hat and white gloves, while his partner donned a pretty summer dress.
The couple hugged and kissed following his surprise proposal before the newly engaged women gushed "Oh my gosh" several times.The soldier then placed the ring on her finger and said "I love you" before he could be heard asking: "Does it fit?" Soon after the proposal, duty called and the soldier said: "Right, I've got to get into the Palace.The King's going to be waiting." They shared a quick goodbye amid their exciting news before he dashed off for his role in the King's official birthday parade.
Police officers standing nearby joined in on the applause, while members of the public shouted "Congratulations". Despite the unfortunate British weather, this year's Trooping the Colour was a magnificent event as hundreds of soldiers marched in unison and the Royal Family made their appearances, including Kate Middleton.
