Snooker maverick Ronnie O'Sullivan has caused shockwaves yet again by pulling out of the Welsh Open at the last minute. Fans were waiting to watch the 49-year-old face Jamie Clarke in Llandudno during Tuesday's afternoon session.
Yet, a blunt announcement from the World Snooker Tour confirmed 'The Rocket' would not be appearing in North Wales, giving Clarke an automatic pass into the next round. The WST statement said: "Ronnie O'Sullivan has pulled out of the BetVictor Welsh Open.
O'Sullivan was due to face Jamie Clarke at 1pm on Tuesday afternoon. Clarke will now receive a bye to the last 32."This withdrawal followed similarly late decisions not to compete in the German Masters and the Masters, as well as an exhibition event in Finland.
As O'Sullivan's time away from the table extended to one month, looks at the last few weeks and what could be next. The seven-time world champion's most recent match was a defeat to Robert Milkins in the World Championship League last month.
