The father and son duo took part in DNA Journey on ITV, which was started by presenters Ant and Dec last year. The start of the show saw Martin show Roman the house he was born in, alongside brother Gary, and how they had "nothing" growing up.
Spandau Ballet singer Martin soon discovered that his grandmother Eliza had actually grown up in a workhouse, where punishments were dished out for poverty or "pauperism". "It’s the maddest thing you paint a picture of such a hard life, and it must have been," Martin said, clearly moved by what he was being told. "
